Strobing is the New Contouring! + My Favorite Highlighters

Makeup trends seem to come and go faster than we can hit Sephora. It seems like a new product comes out every day and it’s hard to keep up sometimes. One product that seems to be taking over everyone’s makeup routine is highlighter. It seems like every makeup artist and fashion magazine is always mentioning and swearing by this magical, glowing beautifier. But what exactly is

But what exactly is a highlighter and why is it so important when it comes to looking your best? Basically, highlighter is face makeup that attracts light, creating the illusion of brightness and height. It can completely change your look in a subtle way that can’t exactly be placed but makes all the difference.

There are three main areas you should apply highlighter: the cheekbones and temples, the eyes, and the Cupid’s bow. Applying highlighter in a diagonal line from just beneath the center of your eye socket up towards your hairline gives your cheekbones some extra definition.  If you need to look awake when you’re working on three hours of sleep just a pinch of highlighter to the inner corner of your eyes can brighten up those dark circles. Highlighter can also benefit your lipstick by giving it a really clean look with one swipe of a concealer brush.

Highlighter has become so popular that a new makeup trend called “strobing” is taking over the internet. Instead of using a darker color and a lighter color to chisel the face through contouring, all you do is use highlighter. The result is more natural-looking, dewy skin that glimmers in all the right places.

I also wanted to share with you my Top 3 products for highlights, I’ve used them before and they have given me the results I wanted!
