NYFW Look 1: How to properly wear reds and burgundy

Hi my loves! Well, this is a very exciting post for me because as you know I’m at NYFW for the very first time!!! So I have decided to share with you some of my looks (because I haven’t been able to shoot them all) and also share with you some tips and tricks. This time I want to talk about how to properly wear one of my favorite colors, which by the way is extremely appropriate for this time of the year and Valentine’s day!

Reds and burgundy are a passionate color that attracts attention. Moreover, the perfect red outfit instantly makes a woman feel attractive and confident. But we all know that finding the right red/burgundy look is tricky because the color comes in a variety of shades; this makes it difficult for some women to find a hue that looks good with their skin color. Fortunately, by understanding her skin tones and undertones, every woman can find the right shade of red/burgundy look that is perfect for her complexion.

Skin tone does not affect which red hue looks best, but it helps consumers to choose between light and dark shades. Dark shades of red, like the one I’m wearing on the picture, contrast well with light skin tones, while light shades pop against darker skin. The first step in grasping the concept is understanding that our skin’s surface tone is the color you’d describe yourself as having (ivory, light, medium, tan, dark, etc.) Your skin’s undertone is the color underneath the surface. You can have the same skin color as someone, but a different undertone, which is broken down like this:

• Cool (pink, red or bluish undertones)
• Warm (yellow, peachy, golden undertones)
• Neutral (a mix of warm and cool undertones)

Blue-based reds like burgundy and crimson pair well with cool undertones. Warm undertones work best with orange-tinted reds like scarlet and vermilion. Neutral undertones look good with most shades of red. It is important to know that neutral, or true reds, look good on most people because they do not clash with skin undertones. When in doubt, opt for a neutral red that lacks blue or orange tint!

Hope this post has been helpful for you guys, I can’t wait to show you more about my NYFW journey!
